Year 2013 was a good year for Maui real estate. The December 2013 statistical report from the Realtors Association of Maui showed there were 980 single family homes sold for the entire year for Maui County in the multiple listing service, which was a 4% increase from 938 sold in all of 2012. Price-wise, the median price increased 13% to $530,000 for all of 2013, compared to $470,000 in 2012.
For condos, there were 1,334 units sold in Maui’s MLS in year 2013, up 6% from 1,253 units sold in year 2012. Median prices were up a healthy 5% to $374,500, compared to $358,000 for all of 2012.
Land sales were improved with 218 land transactions closed, up 24% compared to year 2012, with a median price of $399,500 (up 14% compared to $350,000 in 2012).
For the month of December 2013, 76 homes were sold at a median price of $512,500, which was down from December 2012 when 84 homes sold at a price of $508,000.
December 2013 had 116 condo units sold, down from 142 sold in the same month a year earlier – and prices were also down to $365k for the month, compared to $376,000 in December a year earlier.
